I shouldn't have let my hopes get up too high. I knew it was too good to be true. I've been wanting a copy of Gladys Amedro's Shetland Lace ever since I read about it on Jean Mile's web site. I've been poking around, looking for a copy at a reasonable price. Then I saw one on eBay. Current bid? Something like $4.67. So I put in my high bid -- the most I thought I could possibly get past Myfanwe.
I was outbid. By quite a bit. Winning bid? $92.03.
(This is the part where I have a little tizzy fit like a big, fat, spoiled baby. Please look away.)
There. That's better. I'll send you off with a song...
Que Sera, Sera.
Whatever will be, will be.
The future's not ours to see.
Que Sera, Sera.
What will be, will be.
Whatever will be, will be.
The future's not ours to see.
Que Sera, Sera.
What will be, will be.

And can you name the movie for which that song won an academy award for best song? It is one of the first movies I can remember staying up really late to watch when I was a kid.
Holy smokes.
I think I'd better put my copy in the safety deposit box.
Some of the designs are available directly from Jamieson and Smith. Check their website to see what's available.
Ouchie! But I'll admit that I've bid what I thought was a reasonable amount on ebay only to see the thing that I coveted sell for more than I could justify spending. That book looks great and I hope that you can find a copy at a reasonable price. Could you possibly find one through an "out of print bookseller" (I ask because there's one in Colorado Springs I ordered a book from years ago). I just feel from looking at your beautiful lace that you are destined to own that book.
I don't know that this is much better (or whether they are a reputable retailer), but it's $73 including shipping to the US.

$69.30 from equally unknown store:

Maybe you could try scouring not-online used bookstores? Good luck!
